About Gary
My Story
Dr. Gary Kidney is an educator and academic administrator who worked for years in higher education information technology. He has taught over 650 professors how to teach using technology and over a thousand students from eighth grade to graduate school with technology. He retired from Yale University as the Deputy Chief Information Officer in 2015. Previously, he worked at Rice University, the University of Maryland, and the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Education, and a Master of Arts in Education from Arizona State University. His doctorate in education came from the University of Houston and his Master of Fine Arts in Creating Writing from Albertus Magnus College.
Personal Life
Gary loves to travel and visits every location that serves as a setting in his writings. For The Eagle Scout Picture, he went to Germany, Ireland, Poland, Austria, and the United Kingdom. He is active in a travel club and community theater. He performed the lead, Tevye, in Fiddler on the Roof and directed Drinking Habits.
He lives in Country Place, a retirement community in Pearland, Texas, with Mary Helen Lowry, his partner. He has two sons, Brand and Josh.
